The week before Isabella’s birthday party, I expected to be busy. What I didn’t expect was four of her teeth trying to come through! She already has her front bottom two teeth, and they came in at the same time. That was four months ago…teething was NOT on my mind anymore. Besides last night and HOPEFULLY tonight, she stayed up longer than she normally does.
Isabella goes to bed around 6:30-7PM. She’s had that same bedtime since she FINALLY slept through the night permanently. Which was 9 months. Let me tell you…SHE IS THE WORLD’S MOST IMPROVED SLEEPER!! This girl would NOT go to sleep til 9/10AM. That’s right… A FREAKING M. It wasn’t until I tried the ‘cry it out’ method at 6 1/2 months that we had somewhat of a breakthrough. The first night, she was asleep in 45 minutes. I did 5 minute interval checks. The next night, however, was not a success. I gave up…and we stayed up all night for a few more weeks. I tried the CIO method again in December (7 almost 8 months old). It worked for about 3-4 weeks.
…then the middle of January comes, my grandma keeps her for a night. My grandma does not let Isabella soothe herself to sleep. Isabella will also NOT fall asleep in people’s arms or to a bottle. So…pretty much, she was awake for about a whole day. My mom had her the next night (my mom gets her every other Saturday)…and Isabella wouldn’t sleep well at all (because she was so overstimulated). Sunday, she was awake since around 8-9AM. Went to bed at 6. …the rest is history. She’s been on a schedule ever since.
I’m a much happier Mommy…and Isabella is a MUCH MUCH MUCH more pleasant baby to be around.
But, back to the teething story. Tuesday, she went to bed at 7. Okay, normal. Woke up at 10:30. Okay, not normal at all. She never wakes up during the night. Inconsolable tears consumed her for approximately three hours. She had a 102.3 fever. Highest fever she ever had. Guess who ran out of infant’s fever reducer?! I DID. Hyland’s teething gel sufficed for the night. However, it doesn’t do as near a good a job as the teething tablets Hyland’s used to sell. I know they’re recalled…and I know why they were recalled. But still…those were a saving grace.
I put the Barney: Musical Zoo DVD that I won from a giveaway in the DVD player, and she leaned in between my legs and watched it. My little one is usually always super busy. Never sits down, always walking and running. She looked so pitiful. I decided to give her a warm bath and dress her in light clothing. Bed at 1:30AM.
The next night wasn’t so bad. Although she interrupted my ‘Extreme Couponing’ show, she went to bed at a better time than the night previously. 12:30AM. Last night, she went to bed at a normal time. Around 7:30-8PM.
Oh, how I miss when she wouldn’t wake up til 10:30AM. Now she’s waking up between 8-9:30AM. A normal time for a baby to wake up, yes. But there’s just something about seeing four digits on the clock that makes me less tired. I suffer from chronic fatigue due to iron-deficiency anemia and low blood pressure. Something a 20 year old shouldn’t have to deal with, but I do.
Now, I have a realllllllly bad headache and a sore throat. And I’m having extremely horrible carpal tunnal spasms. Lovely. Right in time for Isabella’s birthday party, which is Sunday. I’m still super excited. Going all out! Just like my baby shower. I’m expecting close to 30-40 people to attend. Bella’s gonna rack up with some new toys and clothes ;D Hahaha, and she gets to play with a whole bunch of her little baby/toddler friends.
Since Isabella went to sleep early tonight, and she’s going to my mom’s tomorrow night…I’m going to write my reviews for products. I know I might be behind on some, and I apologize to the companies. Writing my reviews for Skillet Bacon Jam and TheraBreath tonight/tomorrow. Depending on how exhausted I get.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday night…and a fantastic weekend! (:
