One of my favorite spots to visit is my local dog park, which is approximately two miles away from my doorstep. There’s not many places I can go with my three dogs, as many establishments in my area have signs stating that no pets may enter through their doors unless they provide assistance of some sort.
The Beneful Dream Dog Park Project is a truly special project, as this initiative will help improve and build dog parks all across the country so more dogs and their humans can bond and socialize amongst each other. They will be financially supporting and volunteering at at least 12 dog parks.
Beneful has partnered with GoFundMe to encourage dog owners to create campaigns to help fund improvements for their local dog parks or to even acquire support to get a fresh, new park started in areas that are seriously lacking. Improvements could include drinking fountains for dogs to quench their thirst and stay hydrated, shaded areas to keep both dogs and owners shielded from the sun’s harsh rays, as well as water features for dogs to have a blast playing in.
Each month, Beneful will select a campaign to spotlight on their website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Beneful will match all donations dollar-for-dollar to ensure that these campaigns reach their goals and so dogs have a safe place to play.
Another way for you to get involved in this community effort is by sharing a photo of your dog at a dog park or a link to the Dream Dog Park Project website on social media, while tagging @Beneful and using the hashtag #DreamDogPark. For every social share, Beneful will donate $1 to the Dream Dog Parks Project (up to $50,000).
Visiting your local dog park is beneficial to your and your dog for two HUGE reasons –
1.) Socialization – Going to a dog park is a great way for your dog to interact with other dogs! Your dog will love to prance around and play with their new doggy friends. Dogs aren’t the only ones who benefit from dog parks, as humans get the socialization that we crave, as well. Visiting a dog park could create new friendships for both dog and owner!
2.) Exercise – In addition to interaction with other dogs, your dog needs exercise to stay healthy, so you can spend many more years together! At the dog park, your pooch can run around, play ball or frisbee, and chase (or be chased by) their fellow pups. Humans also benefit in this way, since we’re going to be chasing them as they chase another dog. This is especially true if you’re a helicopter dog mom.
