When you’ve traveled a long, trying road before seeing those two precious pink lines, your feelings towards pregnancy aren’t always positive. If you’ve experienced miscarriage, still birth or infertility, you know exactly what I’m talking about. There’s an unmatched fear throughout each of your trimesters that can eat away at your very being and preventing you from becoming one with your newly pregnant body and baby. Once you’ve realized your anxiety towards your pregnancy, you then feel tremendous guilt.
“I’m finally pregnant. Why am I not excited? I wished for this baby for so long. Now that my wish came true, I’m even more scared than before.” That was one thought that crossed my mind over and over again throughout the duration of my first trimester.
Something that helped me cope with my worry is by reading affirmations for pregnancy to myself. I would say them in my head, as well as out loud. It was like I was an athlete getting pumped up for the big game by her coach, except that coach was myself.
