My #ThankYouNurses Story

This review was made possible by iConnect and Pampers.  I was provided compensation to facilitate this post, but all opinions stated are 100% mine.

Nurses play a vital role in the delivery of our precious newborns. They are there to hold our hand when the going gets tough, to offer pain medication when asked, and to transition us into full blown motherhood. A nurse is there during every step of labor, delivery and post-partum care. They are the often unsung heroes of such a miraculous event. They skip lunches and bathroom breaks all to make sure that their patients receive the best care possible.

The day I became a mother was the day that I truly began to live. I was so young (19 years old to be exact) when my daughter debuted into the world. Even at such a young age, I understood that child birth is a miracle, and that labor and delivery nurses are there to make sure that the miracle-in-waiting remains safe and healthy while mom is going through hours and hours of exhausting contractions.

My labor and delivery nurse quickly placed my newborn daughter onto my chest, and I uttered the words “I love you”…the words I’ve been waiting to say for 9 months. I never even held a baby, much less one that was so fragile and so tiny. I was about as inexperienced as you can get. I needed help from my nurse with simple things like how to change a diaper (using Pampers, of course). My nurse was happy to lend a helping hand, and before I knew it, I had everything down pat.

Pampers Swaddlers has announced their #ThankYouNurses campaign that celebrates the Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and NICU nurses in our lives. They have partnered with the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) honors nurses in three categories: labor and delivery, NICU and postpartum.

Pampers has announced that their grand prize nurse honoree is labor and delivery Nurse Anne! Anne has been a nurse for 38 years and is currently a nurse for the University of Illinois Hospital. She will be honored for her hard work and dedication by being featured in a Pampers Swaddlers advertisement placed with AWHONN.
