It’s been a hot minute since I sat down and wrote a blog post about my littlest love. She has kept me on my toes and my plate full since her arrival in September – hence the slight absence of content on my blog. I forgot how much time babies take up, but I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world. I figured I’d update you guys on my miracle baby! She turned 5 months old on February 28th and is doing so many amazing things that impress me and melt my heart.
The biggest update so far is that she’s now sitting up completely on her own and towards the end of her being 4 months old, she learned how to sit herself up from the laying down position. Now that shes 5 1/2 months old, she’s on the verge of crawling and pulling herself up. If I stand her up next to a box, she will shimmy herself across it to get to where she wants to go!
She doesn’t have any teeth, although she’s definitely been teething for a while now. We’ve been offering a little solid food here and there. Her favorite food that she’s had a taste of so far is mashed potatoes. We haven’t decided if we’re wanting to do baby led weaning or just do pureed food.
She has shown SO much interest in playing lately! This has allowed me to get household chores done and spend more one-on-one time with her big sister. Her favorite toy is a plush owl that came with her activity gym that makes music when you squeeze it. She also enjoys playing with her activity center and in her jumperoo. She doesn’t watch much TV, but if I REALLY need to keep her occupied, Care Bears captures her attention. I think we’ve seen every episode 20 times LOL!
She hasn’t said any words yet or any consonant sounds for that matter. She just squeals and screams lots of ‘ahh’, ‘ehh’ and ‘oooh’ noises. I’m not concerned with whether she says mama or dada first, but I cannot wait for her to say Bella’s name for the first time. I know Bella will beam from ear to ear!
This little one has brought me so much joy these past 5 1/2 months, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for me in the upcoming years (and rest of my life). BUT…time can surely slow some, right?! Next thing I know, I’m going to blink my eyes, and she’s going to be 7 years old like my oldest. 🙁
