Disclosure: I received product in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.
Although I have a meat-eating and meat-loving household, we still aim to prepare and consume healthy dishes that nourish our bodies, as well as appeal to our taste buds. This isn’t always easy with children, especially one that’s a picky eater like Bella, my 7-year old.
I was recently introduced to an interesting monthly subscription service for meat called ButcherBox. They deliver only the freshest meat right to your doorstep – including grass-fed and grass-finished beef, free range organic chicken, and heritage breed pork.
Once I opened the box (filled with dry ice to keep it from spoiling), I noticed that all 8-11lbs of antibiotic-free meat were stored safely inside of an insulated bag. I caught my package being delivered right away, but it can be left at your doorstep for up to 12 hours without needing to be brought inside and stored in the freezer.
It was like Christmas morning, except instead of unwrapping gifts, I was pulling out packages of meat! We received 2lbs of ground beef, two 10oz New York strips, 3lbs of boneless skinless chicken breast, four 8oz boneless pork chops, 4 6oz pieces of top sirloin, and a 10oz package of bacon. That’s enough meat to last our family of 3 for quite a few dinners!
For $129, you get 8-11lbs of meat every month. That equates to approximately $6 per meal! You can even include add-on’s to your order, such as ground beef, bacon and rib-eye!
If you order a ButcherBox subscription through my link, you will get FREE bacon and $10 off of your first order!
I couldn’t wait to start creating kid-friendly recipes using all of our goodies we received from ButcherBox! Twice a week, I will be featuring a recipe using ButcherBox meats. Using ButcherBox grass-fed ground beef, the first recipe on our agenda is Baked Spaghetti!
Boil spaghetti noodles in a pot of water. While that’s taking place, brown 1lb of ground beef. You can chop it finely, or you can leave it chunky, like we prefer.
After the noodles are cooked and the ground beef is browned, place inside of a baking dish. Pour two cans of pasta sauce and a can of diced tomatoes. Season with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, seasoned salt and black pepper. Once you’ve applied aluminum foil over the top, bake in the oven at 400 degrees for approximately 10-15 minutes. Take it out, and layer mozzarella cheese on top. Put it back in the oven for 20 minutes. You can let it stay in there longer if you prefer your cheese to be crustier and more ‘burnt’.
