Note: Bum Covered Diapers is no longer in business.
I got the chance to review one of their Build-Your-Own Fitted Diapers! I loved that I could choose exactly how I wanted it! You can choose the soaker type (flannel, terrycloth, or microfiber), lining material (flannel or microfleece), and the color/print of the diaper! I chose the microfiber soaker type, microfleece lining material, and the purple/black zebra print! It’s unbelievably cute. I raved about it as soon as I received it in the mail alllll over Facebook. I absolutely ADORE how soft the inside is!! I kept rubbing the diaper on my face. Yes, yes…BEFORE Isabella used it! Gah, I’m not THAT gross, people!
Description from Bum Covered Diapers‘ website:”These fitted diapers are made exactly the way you want them! You choose the flannel print for the outside. We put two layers of flannel and a heavy soaker pad on the inside. We can create a custom diaper especially for your little one. You choose outside print, the soaker material, and the inside fabric! (The colors and designs pictured give you an idea of the fabric we have, but we can get almost any color or design you request…your choices are in no way limited to what you see here!)
These diapers will require a waterproof cover. Plastic pants will do, or PUL covers like Thirsties, or Bummis Wraps will work fine. We do not have covers available at this time but hope to carry Thirsties covers in the very near future!”

Okay, yes…I’m obsessed with zebra print. Hence why I chose this print. You can chose from lots of other prints with this Build-Your-Own Fitted Diaper! The diaper that I reviewed is a size Large, and she has plenty of room to grow into it. It fits perfectly. I love that the diaper is snug, and I also love that it’s harder for Isabella to take off…unlike a disposable diaper.
The washing of this diaper was super easy! My grandma told me that this doesn’t look like the cloth diapers he used on my mom and my aunt. They’re more pleasing to the eye…and they’re MUCH EASIER to wash than cloth diapers of the past. All I did was do a cold rinse, then a hot wash, and then an extra rinse. Did the smell test – no peepee smell! I then put it in the dryer on tumble dry. My cloth diaper came out just as soft as when I received it! I was SO worried that I would mess up, because I kept hearing how much harder it is to wash cloth diapers than normal laundry. I didn’t think so at all! For a first timer, it was a piece of cake.
Now, I know they suggest you to use a cover, but I did not. I even tested the diaper out during naptime…and it did NOT leak. Nighttime, however, was another story. But, that’s MY fault for not putting a cover on her! My daughter peepees a lot (she gets that from me, I guess?). The diaper worked fine every other time! No leakage!
Overall – They’re just plain cuter than disposables. They’re better on your wallet and the environment. Would I purchase more cloth diapers from Bum Covered Diapers? You betcha!
