Between work, errands and household chores, it can be somewhat difficult to find the crucially-needed time to spend with your kids. It’s a juggling act, after all! By the time I’m done with cleaning my home of all it’s daily messes, I’m too exhausted to do anything else, and that includes going outside for a swim or to play with sidewalk chalk with my daughter. At this point in my (summer) pregnancy, even walking around the block sucks all the energy out of me!
I’ve searched high and low for ways to decrease my workload and to increase my fun load. Making my daughter’s summers memorable is a high priority! Here are some ways that you can spend MORE time with your kids this summer:
1. If you work from home like I do, one way to get more fun hours in your day is by working when the kids are sleeping at night or during nap time. Nobody’s time is getting sacrificed, and you get the peace and quiet you need to accomplish tasks for your career!
2. Plan ahead of time! Instead of wasting precious minutes (or hours, if you’re obsessed like me) on Pinterest for mind-blowing activities to do at home with your children, come up with a plan ahead of time. I prefer to map out a week’s worth of activities at a time. That doesn’t mean you have to do some huge craft project or go to an attraction 50 miles away every single day, but it’s so freeing to know what’s going on for the week rather than scrambling something together last minute.
3. Run all of your errands for the week in one day. I know, I know. That’s crazy talk, right? Assuming you don’t have to go all over kingdom-come to complete your list of errands, you could clear your schedule for your kids even more by allocating one day per week towards grocery shopping, paying bills (do them online to save even more time!), etc. If it’s not possible to finish them in one day, then perhaps you could try running your errands when there’s less traffic and less people in line?
4. Use Clorox and Viva products to clean up messes quickly and easily! You don’t have to use up a whole day cleaning! With Clorox Clean Up Cleaner + Bleach and Viva Vantage Paper Towels, any mess is able to vanish from your life in no time at all!
